In the description of my blog it says, "the trials and triumphs..." Well, today was all trial, no triumph.

The ingredients were promising: homemade pumpkin spice mix, pure maple syrup (not that flavored corn syrup they sell you to put on your pancakes), vanilla, pumpkin... Cue drool...

In the oven it went, and I deemed the occassion of high enough value to break out the Christmas plates for the first time this season.
But the Christmas plates turned out to be the best thing about this coffee break. The crackers had a nice soft texture, but virtually no taste. I think they needed about three times the pumpkin spice mix than the recipe called for. And that pure (really expensive) maple syrup? You couldn't taste it at all.
I was going to start a series called From the Freezer, showcasing my frozen fruits and veg in gorgeous winter recipes. I have a pile of such recipes waiting to be tried. Today was going to be a soft maple-pumpkin graham cracker. Mmmmm.

The recipe was a bit tedious. Flour had to be sifted, butter had to be blended in with a pastry cutter, pumpkin puré had to be drained of excess moisture, dough had to be refridgerated, then rolled, then cut, then pricked, then dusted with sugar.

So hopefully you will soon be seeing a post titled, "From the freezer." Then you'll know we baked something tasty!
