I celebrated a birthday over the weekend, and the family did a great job of adhering to my wish list... Gardening stuff!

First, look at this baby! Now I can grow my own citrus, instead of having it shipped around the world! This lovely little tree will live indoors in the winter, spend its springs annd autumns in the greenhouse, and vaccation on the deck in the summer. Welcome!

I also got 12 of these flower boxes, with which I will turn my fence into a vertical garden.
This unassuming box, along with its friends, will soon house a summer's worth of lettuce, spinach, radishes and herbs. Exciting!

Now here was something that wasn't on my wish list, but it was a very pleasant surprise. It's a little greenhouse for starting seeds! And those little round disks? Well, just add water, and they turn into little flower pots, that can later be transplanted, with seedling, directly into the ground. Just look...
Clever, right? And so my first seeds were planted today!

Today I planted the artichoke and physallis seeds.

I'm so excited to get started outside, but alas, February is a little early in southern Sweden. Good thing I have my seedlings to work with in the meantime.

I asked my boys for seeds, thinking tomato, carrots, peas and cucumbers. The boys, however, were thinking a bit more exotic. I got artichokes, physallis, brussel sprouts, leeks and cauliflower (clearly they weren't paying attention to last year's cauliflower fiasco). Well done, boys! Keep those new challenges coming.

And on top of all this, some fancy new things to make my days in the garden more enjoyable.
