No silver bells or cockle shells, but nearly everything else is growing fine in their rows.

Going out to the vegetable garden is a joy these days, because everywhere I look, I see things that will soon be on my plate. Like bell peppers...

...and tomatoes...

...and jalapeños...

...and physallis...

Even the 'long slim' chili plants and cucumbers are putting on flowers in preparation for fruit.

Outside the greenhouse, things are just as green. The Brussel sprouts seem very happy growing up against the wall, and some of the artichoke plants are reaching full size. The asparagus plants are absolutely huge now. It was a real challenge, ignoring the tender delicious shoots and letting them grow wild, but we're creating stronger roots for the future.

In the vegetable patch, thing are also coming along nicely. I'm most excited about the vegetables we're growing for the first time, like the leeks. Remember those frail pathetic thread-like plants I transplanted in April? Well, look at them now!

And how about those peas! We needed a trellis for the peas to climb, so we re-purposed some old dog gates we had laying around.

We planted a bush variety of beans, which don't need to climb, so no trellis in this box.

The potatoes and onions are coming along nicely. I've seen flowers on some of the potato plants, so it's about time to mound them; and I've been diligent about pinching off the seed pods on the onions. I learned that lesson last year! The strawberry plants are also full of fruit, but they're not red yet.

In the blue pot you'll find lemon balm. This stuff grows like weeds, and in fact I've been ripping it out of my vegetable patch along with other weeds for the past two years. But it can be nice to have a little around, to put in a pitcher of water or decorate a cake with. So last year I thought to contain some in a pot, which it apparently liked, because it's thriving in its new home.

One thing we forgot to do this spring was cut back our currant bushes, and they're gigantic now.

Gigantic, and full of fruit! If anyone wants any currants this summer, please come to me.

I'll be able to harvest some dill for my midsommar fish and potatoes this weekend...

...and some wild strawberries, too!

So now you should be pretty up date with what's happening in my garden. What is going on in yours?
